Guess what, the deed is done. I broke down and started a dropshipping site. I did it really because they had a sale for Halloween, 35% off, and yes, I know that probably means they are overcharging anyways, and yes, I could have gone somewhere else for a similar site/business probably for less, but you know what (long pause) I did it.

Now I just started the process and they are currently building the site. The first thing they start with is a domain name and they provided three, as the site or package suggests, but unfortunately, they stunk, and I ended up finding my own. OK maybe the one I came up with is not all that good, but the name will fit the slogan that I intend to use – (I am laughing hysterically). Once I have the site setup I will share it – maybe not. Since this blog is just a place for me to vent and share my experiences, and eventually I want to start a series of short fiction stories; I think I would like to keep the two separate. Even better, once the site is up and running, I will share with you the experience I had throughout the process – pros and cons. I can then follow up with more posts on how I am doing with the site, share my ups-and-downs, how I promote or market, and how my sales are going, things like that.
The one thing that is still very vague for me is the need to get a Business License or Tax Certificate; there is contradicting information out there about it, some sites say that a business license is not needed, because you do not have a brick and mortar store, no products or inventory, no traffic, and it is all done electronically – you are a middle man sort of speaking. But some sites indicate that it all depends on where the transaction takes place, it is a lot and there is more to it that I cannot cover all here; here is a link to an article: Drop Shipping and Sales Tax: A Simple Guide that could help. You can also look into something that is referred to as Sales Tax Nexus. The thing is I looked at a few similar sites and most not all do not charge sales tax, or at least the cart or checkout they have does not indicate that, maybe it does once you put in your zip code. In the state and county, I reside in, I believe I will need a Business Tax Certificate, still confirming – I will keep you posted.
I just wanted to share with you that I have taken the plunge and started on the road to my own Drop Shipping business. I do intend to purchase a few other plug-ins, that will help me get started on the right foot, since I saved some money sort of speaking. They have a bundle offering multiple plug-ins for one price, like cart abandonment, urgency, product bundling, etc. and the cost is I believe $120 – I will let you know. I am excited and at the same time extremely nervous. I am worried that I will be one of the many who might not get off the ground, but let me tell you something, I do intend to put all the effort I can and find the right tools or plug-ins to make this site successful and beat the expectations of what this company says this site can generate in sales.

I appreciate you stopping by, and I leave you with this thought, “Starting something new is scary, but exciting at the same time. Don’t let fear overtake your dreams. There is a lot of information out there and people to help, so get up and go for it!”
